errors obligitory in the NHS database

Something I should have blogged earlier but the NO2ID newsletter reminded me. According to an interview on the Today program people will not be able to opt out of having a new computerised national database, the interviewee actually tried and was then told that it was basically impossible. The only way that she could do ti would be to totally de-register from the NHS. As a second best option she decided to remain with the NHS but used the Freedom of Information Act to get her records, only to find that they contained a major error (all databases contain some errors, it's a fact of life). Not wanting this error on the system she asked them to correct it, which they should have been only to happy to do as afterall it was improving their data and therefore aiding them, but was told that this was also impossible.

You can listen for yourself here.
